The Zoo In Us
CATALOGUE OF THE GREAT INSULTS OF HUMANITY | PART 2
The second great insult took a good 350 years, but it stung. After Copernicus had incorporated the earth into the great wheels of the solar system at the beginning of the 16th century and drove man out of the middle of being, Charles Darwin dared to take a bold look under the varnish of the human self-image and discovered: The image of God is a randomly clever animal, its history a teeming conglomerate of animal forms of existence.
In an unmistakable stage language of highly developed projection technology and choreography, four dancers venture into the teeming underground of human phylogenesis. In the interaction of several bodies, chimeras of evolution arise and pass away. Player and body are just as much material as triggering forces, reality and image dissolve. What emerges begins to fight, a game whose inventiveness has no limits.
