Intimacies

A woman, who emerged from the 16th century, floats over the stage after the seesaw of her hoop skirt, like a restless spirit through space and time she goes in search of her true self. With a micro camera she runs across her body, examines, explores and fragments it, reveals intimate details. The camera becomes the eye, which gives insight into the inner experience of the protagonist, her thoughts become pictorial, virtual spaces are created. Inside and outside get reversed, suddenly the player is in her own throat, under your skirt or crawling into her ear. The body itself becomes a projection surface on which an oversized speaking mouth can be seen, on the hoop skirt the woman's own legs are projected and carry her across the stage in a strange dance, they seem to lift into the air or run away from her. Bodies and projected body fragments combine to form new beings and strange creatures, the familiar seen a thousand times suddenly becomes strange and scary. Again and again it revolves around the eternal question: What is man? Over the centuries, the seeker has written poetically philosophical thoughts about this in a thick yellowed book, which is the only object in the middle of the stage. From it rise in constant alternation experiences and failures, longings and traumas.

Fairy tales, dance, music, recorded film sequences and live recordings combine to form a game in which appearance and existance overlap, complement and merge with each other. What is really real?
