SACRE 4.0
Live music, dance and digital imagery
One year before the outbreak of the First World War, Igor Stravinsky created the ballet "Le sacre du printemps", a musical masterpiece of great intensity. The central motif is the death dance of a young girl who is chosen by a community to be sacrificed to the god of spring.
"Sacre 4.0" transports this theme into the present of a digitalised world and sheds light on phenomena such as cyberbullying and the pressure that social networks exert on people. A dancer immerses herself in the network of a virtual world that increasingly captures her. She creates a digital counterpart, an avatar of herself, with whom she enters into a dangerous game in front of everyone. Can she preserve her identity in this game or is she in danger of becoming a "victim" herself?
The piano version for four hands, set by the composer, is performed by Yseult Jost and Domingos Costa.
After "ALICE lost in cyberland", "Sacre 4.0" is the second piece in the current trilogy LOST | SACRIFIED | REPLACED by MEINHARDT&KRAUSS.
